The Future of Flexible AutomationThe computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) factory of the future will look quite different from the factories of today. It will be based on the integration of traditional or process-based technology with the emerging software- or systems-based technology of today and tomorrow. Figure 7-18 shows an example of the factory of the future.
