Cutting Plastics When cutting plastics, the technician must keep in mind that excessive stress on an area will cause the plastic to crack. Also, when using some types of power tools for cutting, chipping will occur along the edge of the cut. For these instances, the guidelines drawn on the plastic should be far enough from the finish edge so that the chipping will not be on the finished edge.
