<emphasis role="bold">Application and Benefits</emphasis> Grease removal processes should be considered at nutrient removal treatment plants that do not use primary clarifiers. One of the biggest disadvantages of not having primary clarifiers is that the grease-removal capability of primary clarifiers is lost. Grease in the nutrient removal process combined with long solids retention time (SRT) associated with these processes, is the primary cause of foaming problems in these plants.
