Summary
SummaryVivado is a design platform to synthesize, simulate, and implement HDL descriptions. It can also be used to program a target FPGA. This chapter introduced Vivado such that it can be used in realizing digital systems in the following chapters. To do so, we started from scratch and developed a project using provided Verilog and VHDL descriptions. At this stage, the reader may not know the structure of the description provided. Such a strategy was necessary to coherently explain the working principles of Vivado. We will explain how these descriptions are constructed in detail in Chap. 5.
