GENERAL A pH waste drainage and neutralization system collects, neutralizes, and removes liquid wastes with a pH lower or higher than 7.0 from laboratory fixtures, equipment, and all areas of a facility. This discharges either into an appropriate local treatment facility or into the sanitary drainage system. A vent system equalizes flow in the neutralized drainage system in the same manner as the sanitary drainage system. For the purposes of this chapter, discussion is limited to small-scale facilities with little or no solids content, rather than large-scale production.
