Foreword
ForewordIt was the beginning of 1519 when Hernan Cortes landed with 11 ships on the Yucatan peninsula, leading an expedition that caused the fall of the Aztec Empire and brought large portions of mainland Mexico under the rule of the king of Castile. The first thing he did after setting foot on the shore was to burn the 11 ships to ashes, to make sure that the commitment would be there to overturn the Aztecs.Fast forward a few hundred years, and after applying some caution to extend history teachings, one should perfectly understand the breadth and purpose of what the author of this book set out to do.
