Concluding Principles
Concluding PrinciplesThis chapter has introduced linear programming approaches to sales and operations planning. We stress the following principles: The match between the real world and the model should be as close as possible to make it easier to build the credibility necessary to use the model. Relatively homogeneous product lines or portions of lines allow for a closer match between model and reality. Investing in training, enhancing data, improving basic MPC practices, and determining clear objectives must all be done before the full potential for using advanced techniques can be realized.
