INTRODUCTION Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is one of the three branches of modern fluid dynamics, the other two being analytical and experimental. CFD emerged in the 1950s with the advent of digital computers, although a number of scientific papers appeared earlier in the twentieth century which constitute a not insignificant part of its theoretical foundation.
