1010603High-Voltage AC CapacitorsDuring charging and discharging events, capacitor banks could introduce very large oscillating voltages and currents of nonharmonic frequencies into the power system. This chapter covers the dynamic of these events for high-voltage capacitor banks. We analyzed the discharge current event using the classical solution of the second-order linear differential equation representing a capacitor discharge event in which the applied AC voltage was suddenly removed from an RLC series circuit due to a single line-to-ground fault.
