The MBR (membrane bioreactor) wastewater treatment process is attractive because it can produce a very high quality effluent. Also, because it can operate with a high MLSS and SRT in the aeration tank, it typically requires a smaller footprint than activated sludge. This Excel workbook has three worksheets to carry out basin sizing and aeration calculations for the membrane module(s), the BOD removal/nitrification aeration tank(s), and preanoxic denitrification tank(s). There is also a worksheet for user input of wastewater flow and characteristics, and biological kinetic coefficients.
